LeBron James’ “Pick” for The Best Sports Film Ever Is An Odd One
There are several movies have a strong claim for the best sports film of all time. Shooting Stars, sadly, is probably not one of them for LeBron James.
Josiah Johnson invited people on the streets of Hollywood to choose their favorite sports movie for a commercial for Uninterrupted, a business James started. LeBron James joined in the fun by making a predetermined decision.
The Los Angeles Lakers player replied to the tweet with a GIF from the film Shooting Stars, which is based on his time playing high school basketball.
Shooting Stars, which debuted on Peacock last month, has a 55 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.5 rating on IMDB. It received a little better, though still unspectacular, 67 percent rating from the audience.
LeBron James Has An Odd ‘Pick’
That’s still better to LeBron’s Space Jam sequel, which received barely a fifth of positive Rotten Tomatoes reviews.
To be fair, the video did have some oddball choices. While Waterboy and He Got Game received recognition, one person picked Titanic. Someone dressed as Freddy Krueger chose a documentary about Mike Tyson.
LeBron James took advantage of the occasion to spread the word about his newest film. Before discounting Shooting Stars’ status as one of the greatest films ever made, audiences should perhaps at least give it a try.
