Kate Upton shares her thoughts, during her historic photo session in the Cook Islands.
With regard to SI Swimsuit photoshoots, Kate Upton is undoubtedly an expert. The 31-year-old made her brand debut in the Philippines in 2011, and since then, she has three times been featured on the magazine’s cover.
The supermodel toured to the Cook Islands in 2014 with photographer James Macari for one of two picture sessions that year. In addition to having the seasoned model stand on the breathtakingly white sand, Macari also had her strike some more difficult poses.
“Getting on a hammock hanging from the boat is very difficult… because I can’t get my hair wet,” She said taking pictures while lying on a hammock that was hung over the sea. But Upton, as usual, rose up to the challenge. She smiled for the cameras while wearing a neon yellow plunge-neck bikini and holding fast to the hammock.
The experienced model thought back on her time with SI Swimsuit while filming in the tropical paradise. “My life has changed completely since the first year in the Philippines,” she said. “It’s incredible what Sports Illustrated can do for your career and how it can help you advance to the next level.”
The now single mother still has good memories of the team, despite the photographers occasionally throwing her a curveball.
“It’s such a family-oriented shoot,” Upton said. “I believe that we are significantly better suited for one another. They’re still my dream client. I still look forward to their shoots every year.”
