Taylor Swift Sings ‘Falling Back in Love’ on New Collaboration
Taylor Swift Sings About ‘Falling Back in Love’ in New Collaboration With The National Following Joe Alwyn Split.
Taylor Swift collaborated with The National on their latest album, and fans are already dissecting the painful duet in the aftermath of her breakup from Joe Alwyn.
The 33-year-old “Lavender Haze” singer collaborated with Matt Berninger on “The Alcott,” which was released on Friday, April 28, as part of the band’s ninth album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. In a similar vein to Swift’s “Coney Island,” the song depicts two former lovers ruminating on the end of a romance.
“I get myself twisted in threads to meet you at The Alcott / I’d go to the corner in the back where you’d always be / And there you are, sittin’ as usual with your golden notebook / Writing something about someone who used to be me,” he begins in the new song.
Swift joins in on the chorus: “And the last thing you wanted is the first thing I do / I tell you my problems, you tell me the truth / It’s the last thing you wanted, it’s the first thing I do / I tell you that I think I’m falling back in love with you.”
Swift’s voice echoes after each phrase when the refrain is repeated elsewhere in the song. “Tell me, which side are you on, dear? / Give me some tips to forget you,” she sings. “Have I become one of your problems? / Could it be easy this once?”
As the bridge kicks in, the duo take turns crooning: “I’ll ruin it all over (Why don’t you rain on my parade?) / I’ll ruin it over for you (Shred my evenin’ gown) / I’ll ruin it all over (Read my sentence out loud) / And over like I always do (‘Cause I love this curse on our house).”
Swift has long been a fan of the rock band, which includes Berninger, brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner, as well as brothers Scott and Bryan Devendorf. Aaron, 47, previously collaborated with Swift on her albums Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, and recently made a surprise cameo on Swift’s Eras Tour in Florida.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn split after six years
“”The Alcott” is one of Swift’s first new songs released since her divorce from Alwyn. The pair called it split after six years together, Us Celebrity Times confirmed with a source exclusively claiming that “fame factored into” the separation.
“Joe is quite shy and never liked all of the attention that comes with dating one of the world’s most successful singers,” our source told Us, noting that the Conversations With Friends actor never “blamed” Swift for her celebrity. “He just didn’t like having to be on all of the time.”
Swift and Alwyn have not officially addressed their breakup, but the Cats actress has been reuniting with her fans on her first tour in many years – and she’s “optimistic” about what’s ahead.
“”She truly believes whatever is meant to be, will be, and knows everything happens for a reason,” and anothe source is saying that, stressing that the Grammy winner is “enjoying her freedom” and “isn’t even thinking about getting into another relationship anytime soon.”
