The moment he returns to work, Henry Cejudo doesn’t waste any time.
At the next UFC 292 fight on August 19 in Boston, the former bantamweight champion will square off against Marlon “Chito” Vera.
The pairing was revealed on Monday by UFC President Dana White via ESPN.
After a three-year hiatus, Cejudo made a comeback in May, but his attempt to reclaim the 135-pound title ended in a split decision loss to Aljamain Sterling.
UFC 292 : Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon “Chito” Vera In Boston.
Cejudo made it obvious that he wants to go back into action as quickly as possible. However, Merab Dvalishvili, his top pick for a challenger, would not be available until the autumn due to hand surgery.
Cejudo will so compete against Vera on the same evening as Sterling defends his championship against Sean O’Malley in the main event.
Vera agrees to the test after losing to Cory Sandhagen in his last bout in March, ending a four-fight winning streak. Before the defeat, he had defeated notable opponents like Dominick Cruz, Rob Font, and Frankie Edgar, steadily moving up the bantamweight rankings.
In their headlining fight at UFC 292 in Boston, Vera will now try to add Cejudo to his résumé.
