Why Miley Cyrus Won’t Ever Tour as the Headliner Again
Miley Cyrus left fans brokenhearted after seeming to confirm that she has no plans for a worldwide tour of her latest album.
Recently, the 30-year-old pop artist disclosed that she will not be announcing a sizable tour in support of her most recent release, Endless Summer Vacation, while speaking with British Vogue for her recent cover story.
During the conversation, the “Flowers” songstress hinted that her hiatus from stadium shows and back-to-back sold-out concerts might not be temporary. When the publication asked about her plans to tour, she said, “It’s been a minute.”
“After the last show I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question,” she noted. “And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t,’ because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?”
Despite her love and enthusiasm for the art of live performances, Cyrus stated it requires a commitment that some fans may not be aware of.
“I love performing but pretty much for [my friends],” Cyrus explained. “Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety … It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people, you are alone.”
In another conversation, Cyrus talked about the chronic pain and inflammation she often gets from stress or working too much. And as someone who’s known for giving it her all while touring, who could blame her for advocating for her own health?
Why Miley Cyrus Won’t Ever Tour as the Headliner Again
“After the album, I had a flare-up,” she said, remembering an episode she had earlier this year.
“I was in a lot of pain. I had gone to the Gucci release party, I had gone to Versace, you know, my adrenals had been kind of drained, and I was kind of back into the pop star thing, and I noticed I had this flare-up,” Cyrus recalled. “And then when I went skiing, which doesn’t make a lot of sense because it’s, like, super active, but I felt better.”
She concluded, “I think it was because I was anonymous in my ski gear. I had my big goggles on, you know, and no one would ever know who I am.”
So while fans may not get to see the star perform a sold-out stadium series like fellow pop idol Taylor Swift, at least they can rest easy knowing Cyrus’ decision prioritizes her mental and physical well-being–we love a self-care queen!
